The SMQ-303 24V RFID Access Control Keypad is a compact and reliable standalone access control system designed for secure door entry management.

With storage support for up to 500 user cards, it is ideal for small to medium-scale installations. The built-in doorbell button allows connection to an external bell for added convenience.

The 24V version, and why the voltage matters. This keypad is built to run on a 24V supply rather than the 12V that most access control equipment uses. That single difference is the reason to choose it, and getting it wrong is the reason installations fail on the day. If your site runs 24V, this is the unit you need. If it runs 12V, our standard keypad is the correct choice and costs less.

Check your supply voltage before ordering anything. This is the check worth doing first. Most small commercial access control in Pakistan runs at 12V DC, but 24V systems are common in industrial premises, on installations built around existing 24V control panels, on some gate and barrier systems, and where long cable runs make the higher voltage preferable. Look at the label on your existing power supply or ask your electrician. Connecting a 12V unit to a 24V supply will damage it, and a 24V unit on 12V will simply not operate correctly.

Why longer cable runs favour 24V. Voltage drops over distance, and the longer and thinner the cable, the more it drops. On a 12V system a long run to a distant gate can leave the reader with too little voltage to work reliably, producing intermittent faults that are frustrating to diagnose. A 24V system has more headroom, which is one practical reason industrial sites and gate installations at the far end of a compound tend to use it.

Card and PIN operation. The unit accepts RFID cards and numeric PIN codes. Most premises use cards for permanent staff and a rotating PIN for contractors and visitors. When someone leaves, delete their card or change the PIN rather than replacing a lock, which is the practical advantage of access control over keys and usually pays for the system within a year in any business with staff turnover.

Standalone, with no server or subscription. Users are stored on the keypad itself. There is no software licence, no internet requirement, and no monthly fee, and it keeps working whether or not your broadband does. Each door is managed at its own unit, so for one or two doors this is the economical arrangement. If you need centralised management across many doors or attendance reporting, ask about networked controllers.

Match the lock and power supply to the voltage too. This matters and is easy to overlook. If you are running a 24V system, the lock and the power supply must suit it as well. Mixing 12V and 24V components on one door produces equipment that either does not work or is damaged. Tell us your system voltage and we will supply a matched set of keypad, lock, exit button, and power supply so nothing on the door is mismatched.

What else the door needs. The keypad is the controller rather than the lock. A working installation also needs the lock itself, an exit button inside so people can leave, and an appropriately rated power supply. Glass and aluminium doors normally take magnetic locks; wooden doors usually take electric bolt locks.

Load shedding. Both keypad and lock need power. During an outage a magnetic lock releases and the door opens, while a fail secure bolt stays locked. Decide which behaviour the door needs and fit a backup supply accordingly. On escape routes, add an emergency break glass release so exit never depends on electronics being powered.

Mounting and cable. The reader sits on the unsecured side of the door by definition, so run the cable in conduit and seal the entry point so water cannot track into the terminals. An accessible cable behind a reader is a straightforward way to bypass the whole system.

How do I know if my system is 12V or 24V? Check the label on your existing power supply, or send us a photograph of it and we will tell you.

Can I use a 12V lock with this? No. Match the lock and supply to the system voltage, or the equipment will not work correctly.

Does it need internet? No, users are stored on the device and it works entirely offline.

Can it record attendance? It is an access control unit. Ask us about biometric attendance machines for timekeeping.
