How to choose a smart door lock
Measure the door before anything else
Thickness and the existing mortise size decide what will physically fit. A handle lock designed for a 40–50mm wooden door will not sit correctly on a thin aluminium one, and a main-gate lock needs a body long enough to clear the frame. If you are unsure, send a photo of the door edge and the existing lock body on WhatsApp before ordering.
Decide how many ways you want to open it
Most locks here offer three or four methods at once: fingerprint, PIN, RFID card and a mechanical key. More methods is not automatically better — it is about who needs access. A household is well served by fingerprints. A shop with rotating staff is easier to manage with cards you can cancel.
Fingerprint is the only method that cannot be passed on
Cards get lent to colleagues and PINs get shared. That matters less for a front door and a great deal for anything you are also using to track attendance.
Face recognition costs more for a specific reason
At Rs 42,500 and up it roughly doubles the price of a good fingerprint lock. What you buy is speed and hands-free entry — useful at a main door you approach carrying things, and largely wasted on an internal office door.
Every lock here keeps a mechanical override
Battery-powered locks warn you long before they die, but the physical key and the emergency USB power port exist for the day nobody listened. Keep the key somewhere other than inside the room the lock protects.
Cabinet and drawer locks are a different job
The F051, F115, F118 and F182 models at Rs 5,500–6,200 are for cupboards, drawers and cash boxes. They are invisible from outside, which is the point — nothing on the furniture tells anyone there is a lock at all.

Can a smart lock be fitted to a main gate outside?
Yes, but use a model built for it. Outdoor gate locks in this range are sealed against dust and rain and have longer bodies to suit gate frames. An indoor handle lock will corrode.
Are smart locks safe against tampering?
The lock body is the weak point on any door, smart or not. Anti-peep PIN entry, false-code lockout and tamper alarms are standard here, but a good lock on a weak frame is still a weak door.
Can I use one lock for staff attendance?
