Buying guide
Choosing a desk mount
Two numbers decide everything: VESA and weight
VESA is the hole pattern on the back of the screen, in millimetres — usually 75×75 or 100×100 on monitors. Weight capacity must exceed the screen's actual weight, which is not the same as guessing from its size. Get either wrong and the arm will not attach, or will not hold position.
Clamp or grommet, and does your desk allow it?
A table clip clamps to the desk edge and needs 10–80mm of accessible overhang with nothing underneath. A glass desk, a thick edge or a drawer unit directly below can rule it out. Check the edge before you check the price.
Gas spring is the difference between adjustable and adjusted-once
A gas spring arm counterbalances the screen so it stays wherever you set it and moves with one hand. A mechanical arm needs a screwdriver to change height. If the screen moves daily — shared desk, standing desk, showing work to someone — the gas spring pays for itself in the first week.
Tabletop TV stands are for when you cannot drill
A glass-base stand at Rs 6,799–10,499 puts a 14–55 inch screen on a surface with no wall fixings at all. Rented property, glass partitions, marble that nobody wants drilled, or a screen that moves between rooms — all cases where a wall bracket is not an option.
Multi-monitor: check total width before you order
A dual arm needs the desk width for two screens plus their bezels at full extension, and a triple or quad needs considerably more. Measure the desk, not the monitors.
Set the height at eye level, then leave it
The top of the screen at or just below eye level, roughly an arm's length away. Most neck complaints at a desk come from a screen sitting 15cm too low, which is exactly what a laptop on a table does — hence the laptop stands and trays here.
Frequently asked questions
What VESA size do I need?
Measure the distance in millimetres between the four mounting holes on the back of your screen, horizontally and vertically. Monitors are usually 75×75 or 100×100.
How much weight can a gas spring monitor arm hold?
Most support around 2–9kg per screen, covering the majority of 17–32 inch monitors. Check your monitor's actual weight rather than assuming from screen size.
What is the difference between a gas spring arm and a standard arm?
A gas spring counterbalances the screen so it holds position and moves with a light push. A standard arm is adjusted manually with screws and is meant to be set once.
Can I clamp a monitor arm to a glass desk?
Only if the manufacturer states it and the glass is thick enough. Tempered glass can fail from point loading at the clamp. A freestanding tabletop stand is the safer choice.
How much does a monitor arm cost in Pakistan?
Single desk clamp arms start around Rs 10,299. Dual arms run Rs 14,399–24,499, triple Rs 18,499–26,499 and quad stands around Rs 19,799. Foldable laptop stands start at Rs 1,999.
Do I need a laptop tray with a monitor arm?
Only if you want the laptop at the same height as the monitor. The NB DA2/FP2 plate at Rs 5,499 fits most arms and turns one into a dual laptop-and-monitor setup.
