Choosing a siren
The siren is what actually stops a break-in
Sensors notice. The siren ends it. Most intrusions stop within seconds of a 100dB+ sounder starting, because the calculation changes for whoever is inside. Spending carefully on detection and then fitting the cheapest sounder in the box gets the priority backwards.
Get the voltage right before anything else
Sirens here come in 12V, 24V and 220V AC. Your panel decides which. A 220V motor siren cannot be driven from a 12V alarm output, and a 12V siren connected to mains is destroyed instantly. Check the panel's siren output rating, not just its supply voltage.
Sound plus light beats sound alone
A strobe siren keeps signalling after neighbours have stopped registering the noise, and it tells police or a guard which building is calling. On any external installation, the flashing lens earns its place.
Motor sirens are for distance, not for rooms
The MS-190 and MS-290 at Rs 1,500–4,000 are mechanical horns built to be heard across a factory yard or a whole street. Indoors they are painfully loud and inappropriate; outdoors on a large site nothing electronic matches them.
Tower lights signal without noise
Industrial signal tower lights at Rs 2,000–2,800 in 1, 2 and 3-tier configurations carry status where a siren would be intolerable — production lines, workshops, control rooms. Available in 12V, 24V and 220V.
Mount it high and where it cannot be reached
An external siren belongs above first-floor level, on the front elevation, out of reach of a ladder-free approach. A siren someone can silence in ten seconds is decoration.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an alarm siren cost in Pakistan?
A high-decibel wired sounder starts at Rs 799. Fire alarm sirens with strobe run Rs 950–1,700, industrial motor sirens Rs 1,500–4,000, and LED signal tower lights Rs 2,000–2,800.
What voltage siren do I need?
Whatever your alarm panel's siren output provides — usually 12V or 24V DC for security and fire panels. 220V AC motor sirens need their own mains supply and a relay, not a direct panel connection.
How loud should a security siren be?
100dB or above at one metre for outdoor use. Indoor sounders can be lower, but anything under about 90dB is easy to ignore through a closed door.
What is the difference between a siren and a sounder flasher?
A sounder flasher combines the horn with an LED strobe in one unit. The light continues to identify the building after people stop reacting to the noise, and helps in noisy areas.
Can I connect a 220V motor siren to a 12V alarm panel?
Not directly. Use a relay module rated for the mains load, triggered by the panel's 12V output.
Where should an outdoor siren be mounted?
High on the front elevation, above easy reach, angled so the sound carries to the street rather than into a wall.
