Smart switches in Pakistan start around Rs 1,500 for a single-gang WiFi touch switch and reach Rs 6,000+ for multi-gang and dimmer models. ZZ Marts stocks 71 smart switches, sensors, plugs and WiFi breakers, most compatible with the Tuya and Smart Life apps, with stores in Karachi and Lahore.
Buying guide
Before you buy a smart switch
Check your wiring first
Many WiFi switches need a neutral wire at the switch box. A lot of Pakistani homes, particularly older ones, were wired without one. Look for a no-neutral model if that is your situation, or plan to run a neutral. Discovering this after purchase is the single most common frustration with smart switches.
Count your gangs
A gang is one switched circuit. A single-gang switch replaces one light switch, a three-gang replaces three on the same plate. Count the switches on the plate you are replacing before ordering, and check the plate fits your existing back box.
Tuya and Smart Life are the same ecosystem
Most affordable smart devices sold in Pakistan use it, which is genuinely useful — one app controls switches, plugs, sensors and breakers from different manufacturers, and it works with Google Home and Alexa. Sticking to one ecosystem is worth more than chasing individual features.
Smart plugs are the low-risk way to start
No wiring, no electrician, and you can move them between rooms. Try one on a water pump or heater before rewiring the house.
WiFi breakers are the genuinely Pakistani use case
A smart reclosing protector monitors voltage and current, disconnects on over- and under-voltage, and can restore power automatically once the fault clears. Given how unstable supply can be, that protects appliances in a way a normal breaker does not.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a smart switch cost in Pakistan?
A basic single-gang WiFi touch switch starts around Rs 1,500. Two and three-gang models run Rs 2,500–4,500, and premium dimmers or touch panels reach Rs 6,000 and above.
Do smart switches need a neutral wire?
Most do. Many homes in Pakistan, especially older properties, do not have a neutral at the switch box. Check before ordering.
Will smart switches work without internet?
Physical switching keeps working. What stops is app control, remote access and cloud-dependent automations.
Are Tuya and Smart Life the same app?
Effectively yes. Both run on the same platform and devices paired to one usually work with the other.
What is a WiFi smart breaker and do I need one?
A circuit breaker that monitors voltage and current, disconnects during over-voltage, under-voltage, overload or leakage, and can restore power once conditions are safe. Installation must be done by a qualified electrician.
