What a signal tower light is for
A tower light (also called a stack light or andon light) sits on top of a machine or control panel and shows its status from across the factory floor. Operators and supervisors can see at a glance which machine is running, which needs attention and which has stopped, without walking to each panel. They are used on production lines, packaging machines, CNC machines, generators, water pumps, gate motors and parking systems.
What the colours mean
| Colour | Usual meaning |
|---|---|
| Red | Fault, stop or emergency |
| Yellow / amber | Warning, attention needed, process waiting |
| Green | Normal running |
Use the same meanings on every machine in your building, and put a small chart near the line so new staff learn them.
1, 2 or 3 tiers?
- 1 tier: a single on/off signal, such as "machine running" or "alarm".
- 2 tiers (red and green): running or stopped. Enough for most simple machines.
- 3 tiers (red, yellow, green): running, warning and fault. The standard choice for production lines.
Choosing the voltage
- 24V DC or 12–24V: most PLCs and control panels use 24V DC, so these connect straight to PLC or relay outputs.
- 12V DC: battery, solar and small low-voltage systems.
- 220V AC: switched directly from contactors or mains-powered controls, with no power supply needed.
The two DH45-3T/W 12V models differ in mounting: one has a fixed base and the other an adjustable stand, so you can angle it for better visibility.
Wiring tips
- Each colour has its own wire and shares a common wire; switch each colour from its own output.
- Mount the light high enough to be seen above the machine and other equipment.
- Use the same colour order on every machine.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a tower light in Pakistan?
At ZZ Marts, industrial signal tower lights cost Rs 2,000 for a 1-tier light, Rs 2,400 to Rs 2,500 for 2 tiers and Rs 2,800 for 3 tiers, in 12V DC, 12–24V, 24V DC and 220V AC versions. A 12V LED warning beacon costs Rs 2,249.
What do the colours on a tower light mean?
The usual convention is red for a fault, stop or alarm, yellow (amber) for a warning or attention needed, and green for normal running. Set the meanings for your machine and explain them to operators.
Should I choose a 12V, 24V or 220V tower light?
Match the voltage of the circuit that will switch it. Use 12V or 24V DC for PLCs, relays and control panels, which mostly run on 24V DC, and 220V AC when the light is switched directly from mains contactors.
How is a signal tower light wired?
Each colour has its own wire plus a common wire. Connect each colour to a separate output on the PLC, relay or switch so it lights on its own. Check the wire colours in the product's wiring label.
What is the difference between a tower light and a warning beacon?
A tower light stacks several colours to show different machine states. A warning beacon is a single colour light used to warn that something is happening, such as a gate moving or a vehicle reversing.
