The bracket for frameless glass doors. A U bracket clamps around the edge of a glass door rather than screwing into a frame, which is what makes it the correct fitting for frameless and semi frameless glass. If you have tried to work out how to attach a magnetic lock to a glass shopfront door with nothing to screw into, this is the answer.

Why glass needs a different approach. Every other bracket assumes you can drill and screw into a frame. Frameless glass gives you nothing to fix to, and drilling toughened glass on site is not possible without shattering it. The U bracket solves this by gripping the glass edge with clamping pressure and padding, carrying the armature plate without any penetration of the glass at all.

Glass thickness is the one measurement that matters. U brackets are made to suit a range of glass thicknesses, and getting this wrong means the bracket either will not fit over the glass or will sit loose on it. Measure your glass before ordering, or send us a photograph of the door edge with something for scale. This single check prevents the most common return we see on glass door fittings.

Sized for 280kg locks. Lock body and armature dimensions differ between ratings, so order the U bracket matching your lock. A 180kg bracket will not correctly carry a 280kg armature plate.

Where these are typically used in Pakistan. Shopfront glass doors, showroom entrances, office reception doors, bank and clinic entrances, and any commercial frameless glass door being fitted with access control. It is one of the most frequently needed fittings in commercial installations here, precisely because frameless glass entrances are so common.

Tighten firmly but not excessively. The bracket should grip the glass securely enough that it cannot shift, but overtightening a clamp onto toughened glass creates stress points, and toughened glass fails suddenly and completely rather than cracking gradually. Use the padding supplied, tighten evenly across the clamp, and stop at firm rather than forcing it.

Alignment still decides holding force. Once mounted, the armature plate must meet the magnet face flush and parallel when the door closes. On a swinging glass door with no frame to reference against, this takes more care than on a framed door. Close the door and check the two faces meet cleanly across their whole surface before finishing.

Let the plate float slightly. The armature plate should retain a small amount of movement so it can self align as the door closes. Glass doors in particular settle and swing slightly differently over time, and a rigidly bolted plate loses contact as that happens.

Will it damage the glass? Not when fitted correctly with the supplied padding and tightened evenly. Avoid overtightening.
