This bracket combination allows proper alignment of both the magnetic lock and armature plate when direct mounting is not suitable. The L bracket is used to mount the magnet on the door frame, while the Z bracket secures the armature plate on the door.

The mounting set for 180kg magnetic locks on inward opening doors. This Z and L bracket pair is what physically attaches a 180kg maglock to a framed door that opens inward. It is ordered separately from the lock, which is why a great many installations pause partway through waiting for the bracket to arrive.

What each piece does. The L bracket fixes the lock body to the door frame in the correct orientation. The Z bracket carries the armature plate on the door leaf and projects it forward so the two faces meet flush when the door closes. On an inward opening door the lock and plate would otherwise never line up, and this pair solves that geometry.

Sized for 180kg locks specifically. Lock body dimensions differ between ratings, so a 280kg or 380kg bracket will not fit a 180kg lock correctly. Order the set that matches your lock. If you are buying both together we will pair them automatically, which avoids the problem entirely.

Where 180kg installations typically use this. Light internal doors, office doors, glass partition doors with a frame, and secondary internal rooms. If your door is frameless glass with no frame to screw into, you need a U bracket instead, which clamps the glass. Tell us the door type before ordering.

Alignment decides whether the lock holds properly. The magnet face and armature plate must sit flush and parallel when the door is closed. Even a small air gap from a slightly misaligned bracket reduces holding force noticeably, and on a lighter 180kg lock there is less margin to absorb that loss. Fit carefully, close the door, and check the faces meet cleanly across the full surface before finishing the job.

Do not bolt the armature plate solid. The plate is designed to float slightly so it can self align against the magnet as the door closes. Overtightening removes that movement, and the plate then cannot compensate as the door settles on its hinges over the following months.

Fix into solid material. A bracket is only as strong as what it is screwed into. On lightweight or hollow frames, which is common on internal partition doors, use fixings that spread the load properly or reinforce the frame. This matters even at 180kg.
