Metal Push Button Switches

Switches in Pakistan from Rs 10. Tact switches are Rs 10, micro switches Rs 100, and panel-mount metal push buttons Rs 550–750 depending on size and LED illumination. ZZ Marts stocks 82 switches — 16mm, 19mm and 22mm metal push buttons, micro switches and PCB tact switches — over the counter in Karachi (Saddar) and Lahore.

Buying guide

Specifying a switch

Metal push buttons: the mounting hole comes first

These are specified by the panel hole they fit — 16mm, 19mm or 22mm — not by the size of the cap you can see. Measure the hole in your enclosure before ordering. Everything else, including illumination and latching behaviour, can be chosen afterwards.

Momentary or latching changes what the circuit does

A momentary button makes contact only while held: start buttons, doorbells, exit buttons, gate controls. A latching button stays in position until pressed again: power switches and isolators. Ordering the wrong one is not something you can fix with wiring.

NO and NC causes more returns than any other spec

Normally Open completes the circuit when pressed. Normally Closed breaks it. Emergency stop circuits use NC deliberately, so that a cut wire produces the same result as pressing the button. Fail safe, not fail silent.

LED illumination needs its own supply voltage

The ring or dot on an illuminated button is a separate circuit from the contacts, and it has its own voltage — commonly 12V or 24V DC. Wiring it to the switched load instead of a supply is why an LED button sometimes lights only when the circuit is already on.

Tact switches: three dimensions, and the third is the one people get wrong

Quoted as width × length × height in millimetres, as in 6×6×7mm. Height sets how far the button protrudes through the panel, so a board that fits perfectly can still leave the cap sunk out of reach. Check the pin count too — 2-pin and 4-pin are not interchangeable.

Micro switches are rated for current, not for feel

The 15A micro switches here suit gates, machinery and limit-switch duty. Lever-arm versions trip from a wider approach angle, which is what you want when whatever presses them does not arrive from exactly the same place each time.

Frequently asked questions

What size metal push button switch do I need?

Measure the mounting hole diameter in your panel. Standard sizes are 16mm, 19mm and 22mm. The visible cap is wider than the hole, so measure the hole, not the button.

What is the difference between momentary and latching switches?

Momentary makes contact only while pressed and releases when let go. Latching stays in its new position until operated again. Start buttons and exit buttons are momentary; power isolators are latching.

What is the difference between NO and NC contacts?

Normally Open completes the circuit only when pressed. Normally Closed breaks a circuit that is otherwise complete. Emergency stops use NC so that a broken wire triggers the same safe result.

What size tact switch do I need?

Tact switches are specified as width × length × height in millimetres, for example 6×6×7mm. Measure the footprint on the board and the height needed to reach through the panel.

How do I wire an illuminated push button?

The LED is a separate circuit from the contacts and needs its own supply at its rated voltage, usually 12V or 24V DC. Check the terminal markings before connecting.

Do you sell switches in trade quantities?

Yes. Send the part number and quantity on WhatsApp for trade pricing, or buy single pieces at the Karachi or Lahore counter with no minimum.
