Wireless Burglar Alarm Systems in Pakistan: What to Look For

24/07/2026 Reviews & Testimonials

Wireless burglar alarm systems have become the default choice for homes and small businesses in Pakistan, and for good reason: no cable chasing through finished walls, installation in an afternoon, and the whole system can move with you if you rent. But there is one design decision that separates a system which protects your premises from one that quietly stops working exactly when it matters. This guide explains what to look for, what a complete system actually includes, and where the cheap kits cut corners.

The load shedding problem nobody mentions in the box

Start here, because it is the single most important thing about buying an alarm in Pakistan.

Many wireless alarm kits sold today are WiFi only. The panel connects to your router, and when a sensor triggers, it sends a notification to your phone through the internet. That works beautifully until the power goes. Your router switches off, your internet drops, and the alarm can no longer tell anyone anything. The siren may still sound locally, but if nobody is home to hear it, the system has failed at the one moment it was needed.

Anyone who understands the load shedding schedule in your area knows precisely when your WiFi-only alarm is deaf. That is not a theoretical risk.

The fix is a dual network panel. A system with both WiFi and GSM uses a mobile SIM as a second path. When the internet is down, the panel still calls and texts your phone over the mobile network, which runs independently of your router and your electricity supply. When you compare systems, this is the question to ask first: what happens when the internet is down? If the answer is anything other than “it calls you over GSM”, keep looking.

Wireless or wired, chosen honestly

Wireless is the right answer for most homes, flats, shops, and small offices. Nothing is chased into walls, installation takes an afternoon rather than days, sensors mount with screws or adhesive, and the whole system can be removed and refitted if you move. For a rented property it is really the only sensible option.

Wired still wins in specific cases, and we would rather say so than sell you the wrong thing. A large commercial premises, a factory, or any site needing many zones with proper central monitoring is better served by a hardwired panel with wired detectors. Wired sensors never need batteries, cannot be jammed, and draw power from the panel. If your building is under construction or renovation and the walls are already open, wiring costs little extra at that stage and lasts longer.

What a complete system actually contains

A working alarm is not one box. Budgeting only for the panel is the most common planning mistake we see.

The control panel is the brain, with the keypad for arming and disarming and the communication hardware. Door and window contacts detect entry at the moment it happens, which makes them the most valuable sensors in the system. Motion detectors cover internal routes an intruder must cross. A siren, ideally external and audible from the street, is what actually deters someone rather than merely recording their visit. Remotes and RFID tags make arming quick enough that people actually do it. Backup batteries keep the panel running through outages.

For larger plots, perimeter beam sensors across a boundary wall give warning while an intruder is still outside the building rather than after they reach a door.

Where to put sensors, and where not to

Cover entry points before anything else. Contacts on every external door, contacts on windows a person could realistically climb through, and a motion sensor covering the hallway or landing an intruder must cross to reach the rest of the property. Think about the route someone would actually take rather than counting rooms. A sensor in a bedroom nobody can reach without first passing the hallway detector adds very little.

Now the part that decides whether the system survives its first month. Do not aim motion sensors at windows with direct sunlight, at air conditioner outlets, at heaters, or at curtains that move in a draught. All of those create the rapid temperature changes a PIR sensor responds to. If you have cats or dogs, discuss placement before installing, because an ordinary motion sensor detects a pet crossing a room perfectly well.

This matters more than it sounds. An alarm that produces false alerts every night gets switched off within a fortnight, and a switched off alarm protects nothing while everyone still believes they are covered. Getting placement right at installation is what keeps the system in use.

Home mode and away mode

Away mode arms everything. Home mode arms the perimeter, your door and window contacts, while leaving internal motion sensors inactive so you can move around at night without setting off the alarm. Setting this up properly is what makes an alarm liveable. Systems without a usable home mode tend to be left disarmed overnight, which is precisely when most residential intrusions happen.

The SIM card failure we hear about most

If your panel uses GSM, it needs an active SIM with credit or a valid package. Prepaid connections that expire through inactivity are the most common reason a GSM alarm fails to raise the alarm, and the failure is silent. Everything appears healthy for months, then the night it matters the call simply does not go through.

Use a package that does not lapse, or set a recurring reminder to check it. Programme two or three recipient numbers rather than one, including someone who is usually near the premises, because a panel that only calls a travelling owner achieves nothing. Then test an actual outgoing call periodically. Alerting that has never been tested is only assumed to work.

Batteries, and the maintenance nobody does

Wireless sensors run on their own batteries and report low battery through the panel, so replacement is planned rather than discovered after a failure. The panel itself should have backup battery support so it survives outages. Check the panel battery annually as a habit, in the same way you would a smoke alarm. Batteries degrade over a few years and are the most neglected part of every alarm system we service.

What the cheap kits leave out

When one quote is dramatically cheaper than another, the difference is usually not a better price on the same system. Look for what is missing: WiFi only with no GSM path, no external siren so nobody outside ever hears it, no backup battery, too few door contacts to cover every entry point, and no support after the sale when a sensor needs replacing or the panel needs reprogramming.

Put two quotes side by side and compare line by line: panel type and communication paths, number and type of sensors, internal and external sirens, backup battery, remotes and tags, and what happens if something fails in month four. The cheaper system very often turns out to be a smaller system.

Wholesale and trade supply

We supply security installers, electrical contractors, and project buyers across Pakistan at wholesale rates, and bulk pricing improves meaningfully with volume. If you install alarms for a living, we can quote complete matched kits so nothing is missing on installation day, and supply the individual sensors, sirens, panels, batteries, and beam sensors you restock regularly.

For property developers, plaza managers, and businesses fitting several units, tell us the number of premises and the layout of a typical one and we will quote per unit rather than making you price each component separately.

Common questions

Will a wireless alarm work during load shedding? The panel and sensors run on batteries and keep detecting. Whether it can alert you depends on the communication path: GSM continues over the mobile network, while WiFi only alerting stops with your router.

Can I install it myself? Yes. Wireless sensors mount with screws or adhesive and pair with the panel, so no cabling or electrician is needed. We can walk you through setup on WhatsApp.

How many sensors do I need? Cover every external door, accessible windows, and the internal route between the entry point and the rest of the property. Tell us your layout and we will suggest a sensor count.

Will it work in a rented property? Yes, and that is one of the strongest arguments for wireless. Nothing is wired in, so it can be removed and reinstalled when you move.

Can I expand it later? Additional contacts, motion sensors, remotes, and sirens can be added to a kit, so a system bought for a house can grow with an extension or cover an outbuilding.

Does it need internet? A GSM panel does not. WiFi only panels do. This is the difference worth paying for.

Getting a system specified properly

Because the right system depends on your building, entry points, and whether the premises is occupied overnight, any single recommendation made without seeing the layout is guesswork. Tell us how many doors and windows need covering, whether it is a home, shop, or office, and whether anyone is usually on site, and we will tell you what the system actually needs including the backup power and communication path that cheaper kits leave out.
