Who this control panel is for. This push button control station is used with motorised sliding and swing gates, rolling shutters, and industrial doors at factories, warehouses, plazas, schools, hospitals, and residential compounds. Anywhere a guard, storekeeper, or operator needs direct manual control of a powered gate, a fixed control station is the standard solution.
Why fit a panel when you already have remotes. Remotes get lost, batteries die at the worst moment, and the person holding one is often not the person who needs the gate opened. A fixed push button station inside the gate house gives the guard reliable control that does not depend on anyone carrying a fob, and it never runs out of charge. In practice most sites use both: remotes for vehicles arriving, and the panel as the guard’s primary control. When a remote fails, the gate still works, which is the point.
Why the Stop button is the most important one. Up and Down are obvious; Stop is what makes the installation safe. It lets the operator halt the gate mid travel the instant a vehicle, child, animal, or worker moves into its path. Powered gates carry real crushing force and cause serious injuries every year, and a gate that can only complete its full travel once started is genuinely dangerous. Any gate installation without an accessible, clearly marked stop control at the operating position should be corrected, particularly at busy commercial entrances where vehicles and pedestrians share the gateway.
Hold to run versus latched operation. Some installations are wired so the gate moves only while the button is held, releasing to stop automatically. This is the safest arrangement where the operator can see the whole gate, because the gate cannot move unattended. Others latch, so one press runs the gate through its full travel. Latched is more convenient at high traffic gates but relies on the stop button and on safety devices. Decide which behaviour suits your site, and where the gate is not fully visible from the panel, hold to run is the more responsible choice.
Safety devices that belong alongside it. A control station is one part of a safe gate. Photocell beams across the gateway stop or reverse the gate if something is in the path, and are the single most valuable addition on any vehicle gate. Safety edges on the leading edge of the gate reverse it on contact. Flashing warning lights tell pedestrians the gate is moving. If your gate has none of these, adding photocells is the improvement we would recommend before anything else, and we stock them.
Built for industrial conditions. The industrial plastic body is intended for daily use in gate houses and outdoor adjacent positions, where a domestic grade switch would fail within months under constant operation, dust, heat, and occasional rough handling. Gate controls get pressed hundreds of times a day at a busy factory, and that duty cycle is what separates an industrial station from an ordinary switch.
Mounting position matters. Mount the panel where the operator can see the full travel of the gate. A control station positioned so the guard must lean out or step away to watch the gate defeats the purpose of having a stop button. Fit it at a comfortable height inside the gate house, sheltered from direct rain and sun, and where an arriving vehicle cannot obstruct access to it. On sliding gates, keep the operator clear of the gate’s path and the drive mechanism.
Compatibility with your gate motor. The station works with common gate motor and shutter controllers, but controllers differ in what inputs they expect, and some require momentary contacts while others accept different arrangements. Wiring is straightforward for an electrician familiar with gate motors, but confirm your controller’s input requirements before ordering rather than after. Cabling and installation notes. Run the control cable in conduit rather than surface clipped, particularly on any exposed run, since an accessible gate control cable is a security weakness as well as a maintenance problem. Use adequate conductor size for the distance between the panel and the controller, as long runs on thin cable cause unreliable operation. Label the cores at both ends; the next person to work on the gate will thank you.
Power failure and manual release. During load shedding a powered gate will not operate unless it is on backup supply. Every motorised gate should have a manual release mechanism so it can be opened by hand in an outage or emergency, and staff should know where the release key is kept and how to use it. This is regularly overlooked until the first time a fire engine or ambulance needs to get in during an outage.
Can it be mounted outdoors? Mount it in a sheltered position or a suitable weatherproof enclosure for the best service life. Direct exposure to monsoon rain and afternoon sun shortens the life of any control station.

Can one panel control two gates? This is a single control station for one gate or shutter. Separate gates need separate stations or a controller designed for multiple outputs.
