Turnstiles in Pakistan, and who installs them. Turnstiles control pedestrian entry one person at a time, which is what separates them from a simple door with a card reader. In Pakistan they are most commonly installed at factory and mill gates for shift attendance, at office towers and plazas for building access, at banks and government buildings for security screening, at gyms and clubs for membership control, and at stadiums, mosques, and event venues for crowd management. Anywhere you need to know exactly how many people entered, and stop two people passing on one credential, a turnstile is the correct tool.

Tripod turnstiles. The three arm tripod turnstile is the most widely used type and the most economical. It suits factory gates, offices, and gyms, handles steady traffic well, and pairs naturally with card readers or biometric attendance machines. Tripods are compact, which matters when gate space is limited, and they are simple enough that maintenance is rarely an issue.

Full height turnstiles. Where a tripod can be climbed over, a full height turnstile cannot. These are the choice for unmanned perimeters, factory boundaries, warehouse yards, and any entrance that must remain secure without a guard standing beside it. They cost more and need more space, but they provide genuine physical security rather than a deterrent.

Flap and swing barriers. Flap barriers move faster and look considerably better in a corporate lobby, which is why office towers and plazas favour them. Swing barriers offer a wider lane, which makes them the practical choice where wheelchair access, trolleys, or luggage need to pass. If appearance and throughput matter more than climb resistance, these are the right family.

Matching the turnstile to attendance and access systems. A turnstile is a mechanism; it needs something to tell it who may pass. Most Pakistani installations pair one with RFID cards for staff, or a biometric fingerprint reader where cards get shared, or both together. If you are using it for shift attendance, the reader must integrate with your attendance software, so tell us what you already run and we will confirm compatibility rather than leaving you to discover a mismatch after installation.

Planning the installation. Turnstiles need a solid, level concrete base and mains power at the gate, and cable routing to your controller must be planned before civil work starts rather than after. Calculate lanes by peak flow rather than headcount: a factory where two thousand workers enter within fifteen minutes at shift change needs several lanes, while an office of the same size arriving over an hour may need only one or two. Always plan at least one wider accessible lane, and confirm how the units behave in a fire alarm, since escape routes must free up on alarm.

Power failure behaviour. Given routine load shedding, decide in advance what should happen when power drops. Most turnstiles can be set to free rotation so people are never trapped, and many sites add a UPS so access control continues through short outages. This is a decision to make at specification stage, not after the units are bolted down.

Weather and outdoor gates. Units installed at open factory gates face sun, dust, and monsoon rain. Outdoor installations should use stainless steel housings with an appropriate protection rating, and ideally sit under a canopy. Indoor lobby units do not need the same specification, and paying for it is unnecessary.
