The exit button that fits where others will not. The slim 1×3 format is the reason to choose this one. Narrow aluminium mullions, slim glass door frames, and tight reveals beside a door frequently have no room for a standard square plate. Rather than compromising the installation or mounting the button awkwardly away from the door, this narrow profile fits the space you actually have.
Measure your mullion before ordering anything. This is the check worth doing first and it takes a minute. If the flat area beside your door is narrow, a 3×2 or 3×3 plate simply will not sit properly, and installers usually discover this on the day with the door already opened up. Measure the width available where the button must mount, and if it is tight, this is your answer.
The curved face is not only styling. The curved profile is comfortable to strike with a palm or the side of a hand, which matters when someone is carrying files or a tray and cannot use a fingertip. It also looks deliberate rather than utilitarian, which is why it is often specified for reception areas and customer facing doors where the hardware is seen.
Stainless steel and daily use. An exit button on an office corridor is operated hundreds of times a week. Stainless steel handles that duty cycle and still looks presentable after a year, where plastic faces discolour and eventually crack around the actuator. On any door that sees real traffic, metal is worth the modest difference in price.
NO, NC and COM output. All three are provided, and the correct one depends entirely on your lock. Magnetic locks need the circuit broken to release, so NC. Electric bolt and strike locks generally use NO. Getting this backwards gives a door that either never releases or never locks, and it remains the single most frequent wiring error on access controlled doors. Tell us your lock and we will confirm the configuration.
Mounting. Fit on the secure side of the door at a comfortable height, typically waist to chest level, where a person naturally reaches as they approach rather than behind the door swing. Keep the cable inside conduit, because an accessible exit button cable is a straightforward way to release the door from outside.
It is not an emergency exit device. An exit button releases the door under normal conditions and depends on the access control system having power. Fire exits and escape route doors generally also require an emergency break glass release that works regardless of the system or supply. If your door is on an escape route, ask us what combination applies rather than relying on the button alone.
Load shedding. The button is a simple switch and needs no power itself, but the lock does. During an outage a magnetic lock releases and the door opens, while a fail secure bolt stays locked. Plan a backup supply, or an emergency release, according to how that door must behave.
Will it fit my narrow door frame? Measure the flat width available beside the door and send us the figure on WhatsApp. We will confirm before you order.
Is metal worth it over plastic? On any door used more than occasionally, yes. Plastic faces show wear visibly within a year on busy doors.
Which contact should I use? NC for magnetic locks, NO for most bolt and strike locks.
Does it need power? No, it is a switch. The lock needs power.
