Description

The 180KG Magnetic Lock is a reliable electromagnetic door locking solution designed for professional access control installations.

With a powerful 180KG holding force, this maglock provides strong and secure locking for glass, wooden, and metal doors. It operates on 12V DC and works seamlessly with RFID readers, keypads, biometric systems, push buttons, and door controllers.

This magnetic lock features a fail-safe mechanism, meaning it automatically unlocks when power is disconnected, ensuring safety during emergencies and power failures.

Built with high-quality aluminum housing, it offers long-lasting durability and stable performance in commercial and residential environments.

It is ideal for offices, shops, apartments, hospitals, and restricted access areas.

The right lock for light doors, and a genuine saving when it fits. The 180kg magnetic lock suits glass office partitions, light internal doors, cupboards and cabinets, low traffic internal rooms, and secondary doors that are not the building’s main barrier. Where the door is light, this rating does the job properly and costs less than the heavier locks people often buy by default.

Why buying more holding force is not automatically better. This is worth stating plainly because it saves you money. A magnetic lock is only as strong as what it is bolted to. Fit a 380kg lock to a slim glass partition door and the glass, the frame, or the bracket will give way long before the magnet releases. You have paid for holding force the door can never make use of. Match the lock to the door and you get the same practical security for less.

Where 180kg is genuinely not enough. Being equally honest in the other direction: do not fit this to a main building entrance, a heavy timber door, or any door likely to be pushed or pulled hard. Those need 280kg or 380kg. If the door is the primary thing standing between the outside and your stock, cash, or equipment, buy the heavier rating. Tell us what the door protects and we will say which is appropriate.

Lower current draw, which matters across several doors. A magnetic lock draws power continuously the whole time the door is locked. A lighter lock draws less. On a single door this hardly matters, but across four or six internal doors on one power supply the difference is real, and it can be the reason a supply copes rather than causing intermittent faults. For multi door internal installations, specifying the correct lighter rating on light doors is both cheaper to buy and easier to power.

Glass partition doors and the bracket question. A great many 180kg locks go onto frameless or semi frameless glass, which needs a U bracket clamping the glass rather than screwing into a frame. Glass thickness determines which bracket fits, so confirm it before ordering. This is the most common reason a glass door installation stalls. Send us a photograph of the door edge and tell us the glass thickness and we will supply the matching bracket with the lock.

Fail safe operation and load shedding. Like all magnetic locks, this releases the moment power is cut. On internal doors that is usually convenient rather than a concern, but be deliberate about it. If an internal room must stay secure through an outage, either plan a backup supply or use an electric bolt lock, which is fail secure and stays locked without power. We stock both and will tell you which suits the room.

NC wiring for the exit device. Because the lock releases when the circuit opens, exit buttons wire as normally closed. Getting this backwards gives you a door that never locks or never releases, and it is the most common wiring error on maglock installations regardless of rating.

Escape routes still apply indoors. Even internal doors can sit on an escape route. Where they do, the lock should be wired so a fire alarm activation cuts power and releases it independently of the access control system, and an emergency break glass release should be fitted alongside. Do not assume this only matters on external doors.

Maintenance. Keep the magnet face and armature plate clean, since dust or grit between the surfaces reduces holding force, and on a lighter lock you have less margin to spare. Check occasionally that the armature plate is still flush and tight.

Will 180kg hold my glass door? For a typical internal glass partition, yes. Tell us the door size, weight, and glass thickness and we will confirm rather than have you guess.

Can I use it on a main entrance? We would not recommend it. Use 280kg or 380kg where the door is a primary barrier.

What bracket do I need? Depends on the door. Frameless glass needs a U bracket, inward opening framed doors usually an L bracket. Send a photograph and we will confirm.

What happens in a power cut? The door releases, since maglocks are fail safe. Use an electric bolt lock instead if the room must stay locked without power.

Buying from ZZ Marts. In stock at our Karachi (Saddar) and Lahore stores with nationwide delivery, supplied by Zam Zam Traders, trading in access control since 2005. We also stock 280kg and 380kg maglocks, ZL and U brackets, glass door fittings, electric drop bolt locks, exit buttons, break glass releases, power supplies, and access keypads. Tell us the door type and what it protects and we will recommend the correct rating rather than the largest one.
